The Learning Economy Foundation and the World Bank collaborated to establish the Web3 Education Alliance (W3EA), a venture focusing on the application of web3 technologies in education. The alliance quickly grew to include nearly 500 world class members, comprising both governments, NGOs, private companies and organizations. The W3EA's primary goal is to facilitate knowledge sharing and joint development of web3-enabled educational tools. It emphasizes workshops and research initiatives, aiming to enhance learner mobility, data sovereignty, and equitable access to education across the globe. This alliance represents a concerted effort to integrate innovative technologies in educational systems, aligning with global educational objectives.

The W3EA also serves as a community of practice and platform for discussing and addressing the challenges and opportunities presented by emerging technologies in education. It not only fosters technological innovation but also encourages the exchange of best practices and experiences among its members. This collaborative environment is crucial for understanding and harnessing the full potential of web3 technologies in reshaping educational paradigms. By bridging diverse perspectives and expertise, the alliance is poised to make significant contributions to educational technology and methodology.
